Check out our talented patron’s original cartoon, inspired by The Servant of Two Masters

We recently asked our patrons to write a brief review of The Servant of Two Masters on the show page and enter to win prizes. Long-time subscribers Carlton and Susanne Stoiber were so delighted by the production that they emailed us their review—and an original cartoon by Carlton!

“My wife and I were especially anxious to see how the STC would present Carlo Goldoni’s masterpiece The Servant of Two Masters. Over several decades we have built up a collection of 15 commedia dell’arte masks, including all the main characters of the play—Arlecchino (alias Truffaldino), Brighella, Pantalone, il Dottore, etc.

We were absolutely thrilled at how Director Christopher Bayes and all the company brought vividly to life these amazing personalities. The production was faithful to the tradition of the ‘comedy of improvisation,’ including hilariously witty gags about current politics, society, music . . . whatever! The cast was astonishingly ‘physical,’ at times turning the play into a rollicking ballet of pratfalls, leaps and bounds and tosses/catches of a variety of unexpected objects—fish included.

I have penned the attached cartoon that communicates our message: ‘Don’t Miss It!’ This kind of theatrical experience doesn’t come around often—maybe never.”
