Poets are Present: Magus Magnus

Poets are Present is a poetry residency in conjunction with David Ives’s adaptation of The Metromaniacs. As part of this unique theatre/poetry exchange, the Shakespeare Theatre Company is proud to host more than 30 D.C.-area poets in the theatre’s lobby. Throughout the run, we will share with you the poems that this residency inspired our guests to write. Visit our Poets are Present page to see a list of upcoming poets.

Magus Magnus is the author of The Re-echoes, Idylls for a Bare Stage, Heraclitean Pride, and Verb Sap. His work sources poetryMagnus_Magus and “the poetic” as central both to the extremes of interiority (thought, philosophy) and exteriority (performance, deed). Towards the latter, Magnus has a special interest in “Poets Theater,” and some of his work exploring this crossover artistic space between poetry and performance has been hosted by The Shakespeare Theatre Company in 2013 and 2014 for its “Happenings at the Harman” series.
