STC by the Numbers

• 2.5 million audience members have attended STC’s more than 150 productions.
• 630,000 people have seen Shakespeare for free during Free For All.
• 35,000 students have attended a world-class production through the SHAKESPEARIENCE Student Matinee Program.
• 15,000 people participate in STC’s education programs each year.
• 12,000 public high school students and 500 teachers have explored Shakespeare’s work through the Text Alive! program. The program is collaborative, and each Text Alive! participant has at least 14 interactions with members of STC’s Education Department throughout the session.
• 9,000 audience members have gotten up close and personal with some of the area’s leading artists through the free Happenings at the Harman performance series.
• 4,200 individuals, families, businesses, foundations and government agencies contribute to STC’s Annual Fund, which totals more than $6 million and provides 36 percent of STC’s operating budget. More than $150 million have been given to STC by supporters over the last 25 years.
• 451 theatregoers can attend a performance at the Michael R. Klein Theatre; 774 can attend at Sidney Harman Hall.
• 237 professionals and artists have completed internships or fellowships with STC since 2000. More than 600 applications are received for the approximately 23 positions offered each season, underscoring STC’s reputation as a leader in the development of future generations of artists and arts leaders.
• 105 Helen Hayes Awards and 445 nominations have been earned by STC’s plays and artists. STC has more Helen Hayes Awards for producing plays than any other theatre.
• 96 great but lesser-known classics have been performed during staged readings in the ReDiscovery Series since 1993; 12 of these have gone on to be fully produced by STC.
• 1 Regional Theatre Tony Award® was presented to STC in 2012.
